David Bridle continues to raise money for Alzheimer’s by collecting donations at the practice.

We do this by not usually charging for small adjustments etc. to glasses but ask for a charity donation instead.

Charity News:

  • Season ends on a high. David managed to gain first Male VET in the Isle of Wight Triathlon in September.
  • Steyning Triathlon. The season’s first triathlon, last year this was my first ever triathlon and this year I have improved by over 4 minutes and scored a 14th place out of almost 100 competitors.
  • New season new challenges: With a full season of Triathlons to look forward to my season has started with a Duathlon (run/bike/run) and several cycle time trials (10m & 25m)
  • In March 07 - David completed the 5000m Swimathon on behalf of Marie Curie cancer care and raised £83 for them.

Raising money for a charity is something which makes us all feel good and at Bridle Opticians we collect as much as we can on behalf of Alzheimer’s Society.

So many people live with Alzheimer’s, either as a sufferer or as a carer. The loss of dignity which accompanies the progression of the condition is upsetting to see. Carers need support from their family and from Social Services.

Alzheimer’s Society help to fund day-care and respite centres for sufferers of Alzheimer’s and the funding comes from the charity work that the supporters undertake.

Last year, Bridle opticians raised over £1000, partly because David ran in the London marathon. This year David has changed to triathlon and continues to raise money.
